Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic Physical Therapy at Crest

Our Atlantic Club pools near gravity free benefits make Aquatic Physical Therapy and Weight-Bearing Exercise yet another treatment option for Crest Physical Therapy patients.  Benefits of Aquatic Physical Therapy include:

  • Reduced physical stress
  • Increased flexibility and motor function
  • Enhanced relaxation
  • Quicker recovery

The natural buoyancy reduces the gravitational pull and lessens compressive forces making aquatic physical therapy exercises much easier to perform than physical therapy exercises on land. The reduction of gravitational forces in the pool allows the patient to stand and begin gait training and strengthening exercises without causing further damage to healing structures. The warm water and buoyancy decrease pain sensitivity.

*Aquatic physical therapy can be used even if a patient does not know how to swim.
